Dunkin’ declares an early start to season, Aug. 18 via www.mercurynews.com
The fall classic is returning — five weeks early.
Dunkin’ has announced that its pumpkin menu of drinks and bakery items will be served starting next Wednesday, Aug. 18, the earliest ever for the nation’s largest doughnut-and-coffee chain.
Making their menu debut will be a new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and two other seasonal offerings, Apple Cranberry Refresher and Apple Berry Coconut Refresher.
Those drinks will join the lineup that includes the Signature Pumpkin Spice Latte, pumpkin-flavored brewed coffee, glazed pumpkin doughnuts, pumpkin muffins and apple cider doughnuts tossed in cinnamon sugar.
To sweeten the deal, Dunkin’ will sell the pumpkin lattes and cold brews for $3 each from Aug. 18 through Sept. 14. And DD Perks members will be able to buy medium-size hot coffees for $2 through Nov. 2.
Last year’s roll-out date for pumpkin drinks was Aug. 19 for Dunkin’ and Aug. 25 for Starbucks, which invented the Pumpkin Spice Latte, or PSL as fans call it. The Seattle-based coffee company has made no announcement so far this year about its fall menu roll-out. There’s no word yet from the Berkeley-based Peet’s either.
What if you’re one of those who doesn’t like to drink pumpkin coffees until autumn actually arrives?
